I had always thought this term referred specifically to the generation born following WWII, but MWO dates it to 1941.Can anyone (OED maybe?) provide a cite of this early usage? 1941 seems a bit late...

I would make a distinction between "a baby boom" and "the Baby Boom."The 1941 reference may be to a post-WWI baby boom. Those kids would be about 20 years old, draft age and bad news for Hitler. So...
